Daring to be Different for your Craft!

The other day I was browsing through blogs as I do sometimes and I came upon one talking about the actress Vanessa Hudgens, while I admit I am not a fan, but I was quite taken back by the blatant words against her all for a little hair cut. I read the post and then decided to investigate it myself. It turns out the actress cut her own hair for a movie role, hence the shorter hair (which she herself has said not to like it, but it was for the role). The post I read (which will remain un-named) only went on to rip the poor girl to shreds without knowing the reason for the said haircut in the first place. I'm all for someone sharing their opinion, but please make it an intelligent one based upon all the facts, not just useless dribble. The writer proceeded to spout venom like a crazy serpent such as (this is not word for word) 'The hair cut makes her look fat and ugly' and 'we'll love you again when you grow your hair back out - maybe', after reading, I was just going to ignore it, but I quickly commented to state the haircut was for a movie and it wasn't so nice to be that way (ooh how 5 years old do I sound) but, if one doesn't stand up for something they feel is wrong, won't it just keep going. And fair enough it's her blog, but I think I still have the right to respond, because isn't that what we're all asking for, is someone to comment!?!  People that slag someone off if they step out of the comfort zone of looking nice and pretty and change how they look for their art, should be applauded in my humble opinion. Considering the vacuous and mundane teeny roles she had previously, some people wrongly think an actress like her should remain in those pretty roles and get by on her looks. What they fail to realise is that maybe true actresses do not wish to be typecast, like to stretch themselves for their art and would like to do the kind of gritty roles that would see them taken seriously by a wider audience.  Instead of those screeching that she's cut her hair (it grows back anyway), perhaps they should applaud the fact that she is a versatile actress, willing to go the distance for a role.  I'm sure she wants to be known for more than looks, to show dedication to her art and to prove that she is not just a pretty face - but an intelligent and serious young actress.  Also, is it not about time that us ladies stopped tearing into each other and bitching about others just for their outward appearance (sorry, real ladies don't do that, do they)? I'm not trying to slag off anyone myself, but give a different point of view, these actors enjoy their work or they wouldn't do it, and anyone credible is willing to push the boundaries to make the viewer believe every last moment of their work or otherwise it's pointless!! (as you will see below).

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!!

7 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT MYSELF:

1. umm..I collect teacups, vintage ones, anything unique looking and usually never a set, I like random pieces more.

2. When I was little I wanted to be Wonderwoman, I had the costume, my mum made me a truth lasso and head gear and I would run around the house tieing up my toys as bad guys and jumping off the furniture & got in trouble ;) lol. (Linda Carter version always)

3. I love love Period dramas (well all kinds of movies too) but I adore Pride and Prejudice (original, no remakes) and laugh how she loved Mr. Darcy as soon as she seen his huge house, but I liked him as soon as he walked through the door and had that grumpy, stern look on his face, haha. My husband makes the same face - yesss <3

4. Just before my mum had me, she went to a KC & the Sunshine Band concert and when I was little I was obsessed with them and my mum had never played me any of their music after she had me, only while pregnant, so she thinks I must have been jamming away to them in her belly, lol.

5. I enjoy living in United Kingdom more than America...I've learned so much here, the people are darling, the way they dress and carry themselves has actually helped me to gain confidence, the wide range of accents is enjoyable, really the British charm is infectious and they have the best tea, lol ; ) (I say UK because I've lived in England & Scotland and I enjoy them both)

6. I like accesories and bits and bobs, this isn't all of it, only what I could fit in the shot, lol!!! Oh and squeezing this together..I don't follow fashion trends nor do I listen to some over paid whom ever try and tell me how to dress or what to wear, I wear what I like and what I feel good in, simple as that!! I tend to dress in eras, haha. I like different styles from different years, its like time travelling for the day ; ) lol.

{Miso Pretty lotion, smells like blossoms: gift; Dior Perfume, Lanvin perfume, some vintage necklaces, pink heart necklace made out of a vinyl record for my friend's band My Passion, 3 old vintage boxes (my husband collects them - the older, the better, we have them all over the house), some polishes gifted to me, mother of pearl necklace gift from Austria, Geisha doll - from a set of 4.}

7. I'd like to live in Paris sometime.

The Crazy Life of an Iris

Wednesday is upon us, the vivaciousness of summer is slowly slipping, bringing forth a cool bite of Autumn breeze, but I love this time..birthday soon, golden leaves to hit the trees and ground, the smell of apples baking in the oven, wrapping up to snuggle on the couch with an adventurous book & cup of tea..the soothing twinkle of music playing in the background....can't wait...Have a wonderful day flowers!

xoxoxo

P.S. Iris is just a tad fabulous isn't she!?! Well, more than a tad..and I love how she's a bit mad with it in one of the last photos...rawrrrrr..I'm awesome she screams, I wanna be that awesome at any age..she's a doll..I love her!!

P.S.S. Iris..if your listening or reading in this instance...I wouldn't be upset sharing your home with you, I'll clean, cook and everything, we'll have tea parties, it'll be fabulous..hehe..just saying ;-)

Rebels Unite

Here's to the crazy ones
The misfits. The rebels.
The trouble makers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only you can't do, is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They invent.
They imagine.
They heal.
They explore.
They create.
They inspire.
They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some see them as the crazy ones, we see them as genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Apple Inc.

I used to do 'Lundi Love' every Monday & then stopped, but decided to resurrect it as I felt it was something I really enjoyed and what I had set out to do when I began this thing. So, I'll try and do it more often. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I love quotes and all that stuff, they give me a lift when I'm feeling the strains of the world. But, I was thinking the other day..what is my quote, what will I leave behind for people to get a lift from!?! I had to think really hard, because I'm always saying lots of things, and then something popped in there...'Imitation is the lowest form of flattery'..I know your thinking to the famous quote and wondering why would I say it that way?? Well, when we imitate someone we are cutting off the very source that makes us amazing - ourselves!! I don't want to inspire people to be just like me, I'd like to inspire people to be their very best selves. Because when you think on it, the very people you are bending over backwards to emulate, are the very people who are striving to just be themselves too. Be strange, be anything but mediocre, you only get one shot at life, live it up, go wild, wear what you wish as long as your not hurting anyone (hence the riots) have fun :) Because when your old and grey, you may be sitting there wishing you had done those things, but the time will have passed.  Have a life that screams 'I Am Anything But Normal'!! Because what is normal anyways!!?!! ;D

Have a fun day beauties!!
xoxoxo

I challenge everyone to adopt this fear. I challenge everyone to run from any hint of normalcy and to shun the act of settling for merely “good enough.” You are great. Anybody can lead a normal life, but you are not anybody – You are somebody. You are somebody that deserves more than “good enough.” You deserve exceptional.
