Rainbow Bright!

I love the flairs of colour through the hair mixed with the sophisticated prettiness of the clothes..all of which I would happily wear!! Stunning scenes!! I may just look for a colour to suit my dark hair, have wanted to for a while, just might do it now!

Hope your day is sweet!

No Dirty Gold

Hiya dollfaces, I was sitting at home watching this documentary that I had taped (because they come on at night & I'm not always able to watch TV when trying to get the kids to sleep) and I was very moved to watch how this young boy works every day. We complain so much how we don't have this designer bag or that designer whatever & this young boy, who in my opinion like my girls, should be out playing ball and happy with friends is working many hours for very little money, just so jewellery stores can have gold for us to buy. I just don't see how this is fair, is gold that needed for an outfit or wedding ring or whatever!?! The way he has to drop into the mine to get the gold is so dangerous, not to mention how he's put at risk by breathing in the mercury fumes and touching it with his bare hands..how much shorter is his life going to be!?! This has me thinking that a person's happiness of a gold watch or ring is just not worth shortening and even ending another's life!
Some may be sitting and thinking 'Well, why doesn't the government do something about it?' I honestly can't say..it could be said that they want to keep the money coming in & it's lots of governments and companies sharing in the wealth of this trade, not just one. As all the gold gets combined to be sold to jewellery stores..very sad! Then you can say, 'why do the kids and people do this work?' Well, have you ever been so hungry you'd do anything? Have you ever needed clothes or other everyday things to survive? It's all they have, theres no mall they can go and work at and get paid fair money, so this is what they do. I just hope the next time you buy a gold item or diamond even, you think of who may have risked their life so you could have it and ask the jewellers where they got it from. Many jewelers - good ones should be able to tell you where they sourced it from & if your not sure, don't buy it. I've joined the campaign in rejecting dirty gold mining and I hope with everyone's help we can bring an this an end to this shameful way and bring awareness to people to be more conscience of the products they buy. This not only has a majour impact on the children & people who must work for the gold, but it also has a very dramatic effect on the earth as well. It has me thinking that I'll be much more aware should I wish to buy gold jewellery (which I most likely won't as I don't really like it to begin with) and ask where it's come from, to save not only lives, but the planet!

This is part of the documentary revealing the dirty gold practices, speaking to a young boy about the work he does and how it effects him & others working, very sad. I could hardly watch, but its so important to know what effect it has!

Hello flowers! How was the weekend? Mine was good. Rainy still, but I did manage to get out to the store for food. Everything is slowing down here as the kids are in their last week of school, then I'll have more free time. Hoorah to New York for voting to give All people the same rights of marriage, I hope the rest of the states will catch on. As all people are deserving of equality no matter what!! These pictures reminded me to just reach out and do something new, sometimes we get to comfortable and forget to really live and embrace life, so I wanted to remind myself not to forget to step out and do something different each day!! Have a great Monday!!

Feel Good Fridays!

Happy Friday beautiful faces! Hoorah, it's Friday..lt the weekend begin! I was thinking the other day after someone posted some questions about, 'Why did I want to start this blog? What did I want to say?' Well, to be honest to that, I wanted to create a place that was so un-like the world I saw everyday. Somewhere that people could come and find positivity and another point of view. I don't care about the numbers of people who may read my blog, if only one read this and went away feeling better, then I'd be happy. This world is so messed up, women are made to feel as if we have to fit in box A when we may shove into box Z and it's wrong. And sadly, there are a lot of women who do this to other women and it sickens me! Where is the Girl Power gone, the feminists burning their bras? Why do we look in the mirror and hate what we see? We are women, we are stronger than society thinks. We come in all shapes and sizes, its what makes us rock big time!! We do the jobs of many people in one day and still have time to look fabulous. I wanted this blog to be more about the positives and less about the negatives - the world (real & blog world) spits out enough! I guess I wanted to create a place that people could go away from feeling even a small bit better about themselves & whatever they may be facing...that's what I'd like!! It's a hard world, we all need spaces to just let go in! Sorry for the ramble, lol!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Happy Wednesday flowers!! I seriously think I'd volunteer to be locked in here and not come out for a very long time!! I adore libraries like this, I can just imagine what great reads I would find in here. Not to mention the architecture would keep me hooked too! You could even play hide & seek in here since it's so big! My dream house would have one of these in it for me to go to whenever I needed to escape and read :) Ahh..heaven! It's mid-week, I hope everything is going dandy with everyone! My older daughter is off on a Pirate's adventure today with her class, so she went to school dressed as Jack Sparrow's right hand lil' woman :) We sang pirate songs all the way to school too, fun! Have a fantabulous day!!

{Mood Inspiration} Yellow Bliss

I really need some sun..it's been raining or grey for too long, so I decided to bring some brightness to myself with these pictures!! I love yellow, its another colour that always makes me smile and feel nice. I can hear the pitter patter of the rain just now outside my window, it doesn't fill me with delight, so I shall spend the day playing with my baby and making the best of the day! I hope the sun is shining wherever you may be and if not, you at least find some happiness!!

Rebel Rebel

Hello poppets! I hope the weekend was bliss, here still some rain and cloud, so movies are always a good way to spend the day inside, unless you have a good book and I finished mine, so movies it was. Sometimes I instead of a new movie, I like to dig out an old favourite to watch. And I was in a bit of a rebel mood, so I looked into one I religiously watched growing up. I just loved and admired the lead character for her un-willingness to give up what she believes in no matter the cost. Sometimes you need that in this world, people try and beat you down to conform to their way of thinking and it can be demoralizing. Another reason & the biggest reason I loved this movie growing up was because the hero is a woman, back in the 80's when this came out, there wasn't that many women in such a role...one of the closest things to it for me was Wonder Woman. We need more females in strong and intelligent roles, not just to be seen as pieces of meat to gawk at. I believe women can be both beautiful, strong and intelligent...we're able to have careers, degrees, run households, bare children and everything after all. The run down of the movie is below & the first part of it also, I hope if you do watch sometime, you enjoy!! Just a little way to start my week of strong!! Have a great Monday!!

P.S. sorry if this was a long post & I rambled, lol ;)

----------------------------------------
Billie Jean Davy and her brother run into some teenage boys who start trouble with them. Billie humiliates the group of boys and speeds away with her brother. Later the group of boys find them and try to settle the score. They find her brother - Binx's scooter and steal it. Billie Jean and her friends go to the police & talk to a Detective Ringwald about the scooter, but he doesn't take them seriously. So, Binx tries to go get the scooter back on his own and comes back severely beaten and the scooter is trashed. They go to Mr. Pyatt's shop (the leader of the group of boy's father) to get the money. My Pyatt takes Billie upstairs and gives her $50.00 and says she must 'earn' the rest and tried to assault her.
Not realizing what is happening upstairs, Binx goes into the store himself. Finding the store empty, he leans over the counter and opens the cash register to get his money but instead finds a pistol inside. Billie comes running down the stairs with Mr. Pyatt right behind her. When Mr. Pyatt sees that Binx has the pistol, he tries to trick Binx by saying the pistol isn't loaded. Binx accidentally fires it, wounding Mr Pyatt in the left shoulder. The kids race away from the shop and become fugitives.
By the time Detective Ringwald realizes that he made a mistake in not listening to Billie Jean, the situation is spinning out of control. Throughout it all, she only wants the $608 to fix her brother's scooter and an apology from Mr. Pyatt. Billie Jean decides to make a video of her demands, and before she makes the tape she cuts her long, blond hair into a crew cut as a sign of her rebellion. As the media coverage increases Billie Jean becomes a teen icon - a symbol of youth empowerment, and the evidence of the injustices adults are capable of.

The Changing Sands of Time

Happy Friday dolls! I hope it's been a good week for you. Mine was good, only one stressing day, or moment really. I was bringing my daughter Saffron home from school and my baby daughter Noémie decided it was a good time to start screaming at the top of her lungs. With everyone looking at me as if they'd never seen a child cry before, I had to quickly get home and console her, she soon cheered up :) Her night sleeps are getting much better, so we aren't so out of it in the mornings! I hope you enjoy this video I discovered on Dior's facebook page, the music and the mood is quite beautiful and perfect for the end of a long week. I loved all the pictures, it would be great to be able to create these with sand :)Have a beautiful weekend with lots of fun and sunshine!!

Love love,

{The Essence} of Style

STYLE is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma..
fashion is something that comes after style.” - john fairchild

{via:here}

Happy Wednesday!! I hope the week is going well so far, I've had coldness and sunny weather so far, like a roller coaster ride of forecasts, lets see what today brings. I love Helena Bonham Carter, she's always out there, unique and best of all - always herself!! We lack that - originality & being who we are. It's wear this, do this and it gets boring, I need expression, individualism, uniqueness or I get a little twitchy!! We look down at others for what they wear, but maybe really, we are jealous because they have the guts and freedom to be who they are and enjoy it! I liked this quote, just because it goes against what fashion mags tell us, what 'stylists' tell us, that to be in fashion or look good we have to be wearing the latest clothes of some designer, but I think style does have to come first, you have to be able to look and say that trend doesn't suit me or stand out and not follow. I don't believe they know everything anyways, their only popular because people buy what their 'selling'. So, I say..dress up, look sharp, wear whatever the heck you want to wear. It's the designers & people who do this that will go on to be forever stylish!!

Have a sweet day lollipops!!

When I woke up....

Ahoy!! Happy Monday!! I hope the weekend was super :) Mine was movies, books and children's playtime!! I woke up this morning with a zillion things running around in my head, not the normal things most people think on, like what they have to do today and so on. But, things that really made no sense once I put them all together...I'll give you a run down.....

I had this image in my head, from the artist I talked about in this post and how I'd really love to be the one in the picture:

I had this song playing in the background, because you know...Wild Boys always shine.. ;)

I was thinking about when I read this book...read it if you haven't, but don't see the movie, it will ruin it for you, because the book as usual laughs in the face of the movie! Burroughs is awesome!

I was thinking about these socks and tights I have yet to wear and what I might wear them with..still no clue, but there you go! Just love them though :)

{top tights, bought at River Island & bottom socks bought in TKMaxx}

I was also thinking after watching the movie 'Tangled' lastnight with my husband & daughters, we want to get a Chameleon and I want to name him 'Karma' lol! To go with our 6 leopard geckos we already have :) Funny movie, my daughter was still talking about it this morning before school!

I also thought of the Phrenology head I have & how I searched high and low for one, no idea why, I just wanted one. I like to buy strange things (well strange to others, normal to me) and learn about them, but I have yet to get a book on Phrenology, have just read about it on websites. But, my vintage hat does look rather dandy on him!!

I also thought of this painting that I love, not sure why. But, I just love the blue colours and the mood created & how I feel when I look at it, just brings a sense of calmness to me.

The Lamentations of a Poet
1882-83
watercolor over graphite, with gouache, on paper

I thought of all these things and just as I was drifting back to sleep, the alarm went off and my best thought was time to get up and feed my lil' beauty Noémie (1 month old now) while her big sister gets dressed for school.

So there you are, my morning thoughts, random as they come! I almost forgot it was Monday today, felt like Sunday...now I have the Bangles playing in my head (Manic Monday)...ahh it never ends! I do hope everyone has a great day & the sun shines for you wherever you may be!!

Loves n' sparkles,
Kizzy
